Reiki Distance Healing

Reiki first found me when my very senior dog Doodle awoke one evening and had lost complete use of her hind legs. She was completely panicked and her eyes were filled with utter fear. Due to her advanced age (16-year-old German Shephard mix) and physical condition, my husband and I knew that conventional medicine would offer no hope. We were desperate to find something to help her, but it being a Saturday evening our options were extremely limited. I had heard a bit about Reiki and remembered that it could be sent from a distance. I immediately got on the internet and searched for Reiki practitioners in our area, but with little faith that someone would actually answer at 8:00 pm on Saturday. I found the website of my now Master Teacher and mentor, Carol Wilson. I took a chance and called and couldn’t believe it when she answered. She had just returned from a trip to Nepal, but amazingly was willing to do a session that same night. At this point, our poor old dog had been struggling and had finally worn herself out and fallen back to sleep. As she slept, my husband and I prayed that this would help because there was nothing else we thought we could do. Later that evening when our dog woke, her legs were working!! I cried so many tears of relief and gratitude. She was 16 years old at this time and went on to live until 18 years and 4 months--with the use of her legs (although they did lose strength over time). I really couldn’t believe what had happened, but this was when I decided to take my level I class with Carol. I continued taking Level II, Advanced Reiki Training and my Master Level class with her.


But there is more to this story. My husband and I at the time had four cats, which for my husband was more than enough furry sidekicks. We had never before shared our lives with a dog. I was working at the local Humane Society when I first found out about Doodle and I now know she was sent to me by my angels. We adopted her when she was 15 years old after she landed in the shelter because her mom had to flee a domestic violence situation. Doodle was so depressed as she also had to leave behind another canine companion. This is where we found each other. Without hesitation when I read her story I knew we had to adopt her. It was because of her that I am where I am today. She was the one who taught me about unconditional love. Her health issues introduced me to holistic medicine. She was such an inspiration that I started a holistic pet product business. She taught me about strength, tenacity, and the will to live and, ultimately, about death and dying on your own terms. She was with us exactly three years to the day from when we brought her home before she returned to the angels.


She was the spark and light in my life that led me on my spiritual journey. I cannot recount the many many gifts she brought to our life, but will be forever grateful to our brave sweet girl. She fills my heart each and every day.

 

And now, I feel like I am coming full circle with her gift to me. As a Reiki Master I have the honor of helping other animals in need. I feel profoundly blessed and honored to be of service to our sweet companions who give us so much love.
